WHAT TO VISIT IN MONTMARTRE ?

18:30

You've always wanted to visit Montmartre but you don't know where to start ? Let me be your guide through my favorite part of the city. During this two hour-long stroll, you'll discover houses where famous artists lived, little flowered streets and a few unknown places.

Before our visit, you have to start from "Anvers" (ligne 2). Then, ascend "rue de Steinkerque". Little reward in the end as you'll notice the Sacré Coeur. To avoid tourists, follow me "place Saint-Pierre", then let's turn left "rue Ronsard". You'll see the Halle Saint-Pierre, a modern art center. Let's go straight on and climb the well known stairs from "rue Paul Albert".  You're tired ? Don't give up now ! You should enjoy the view instead. Then climb (again) the stairs "rue Chevalier de la Barre". You'll see here one of the oldest Gothic style churches of Paris. Take "rue Cortot" but first admire the breathtaking view. Turn right "rue des Saules" (I love this street). Don't forget to stop at La Maison Rose, this beautiful pink café, to quench your thirst. Isn't it so pretty ? At the junction of "rue des Saules" and "rue Saint-Vincent" you'll see the Clos Montmartre, the cutest vineyard and a little cabaret called Le Lapin Agile, where Picasso and his friends, Apollinaire and Max Jacob met. Then you can visit the Cimetière Saint-Vincent, a typical Parisian cemetery. Marcel Aymé, a famous French author, was buried there. Retrace your steps and go back to "rue des Saules". Keep walking on "rue de l'Abreuvoir", you will arrive to "place Dalida", where the famous singer lived. Then, you'll a little path, "allée des Brouillards", you won't regret it as beautiful houses were built here. I even read that Renoir used to live there. Turn back and head towards "place Marcel Aymé", you can stop here and see the famous statue of the protagonist from Marcel Aymé's novel "Le Passe-Muraille". Walk down the "avenue Junot" and enjoy the atmosphere. You'll find my favorite street, "Villa Léandre", go there and take some pictures. It's one of the most beautiful hidden streets of the capital. Retrace your steps once again to "place Marcel Aymé", and take rue Lepic. Up here, there is a famous restaurant called "Le Moulin de la Galette" and you'll see the last mill of Montmartre, a symbol. Then, I recommend to go to "place du Tertre" even though it will be crowded in the afternoon. Many artists set up here and they will ask you if they can draw your portrait. Have a break here if you want, and take a well deserved French pastry. And finally "rendez-vous" in front of the Sacré Coeur. Enjoy the panorama over Paris. If it's sunny, it's even more beautiful. Done, our visit ends up here. Hope you enjoyed every minute of your little tour around Montmartre.

If you have time, you really have to check Le Mur des Je t'aime,"place des Abesses". And don't go ! I almost forgot one place that I adore. Indeed, some of you might know the French movie Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain with the exquisite Audrey Tautou. If you'd like to feel like a real Parisian, go have a coffee at the Café Des Deux Moulins (15 rue Lepic), it's the café from the movie, the real one yup. That's all, I'm done, for real this time ;)

If one day, you visit Montmartre with my guide, tell me in the comment what you thought of it :)
